Having played on international stages such as Boiler Room and AFROPUNK, Lelowhatsgood is the DJ behind the representation and visibility of queer creatives in Johannesburg’s entertainment industry. As a writer and multi-faceted content creator — with bylines that include The New York Times, Mail & Guardian, GLAMOUR to name a few — he is breaking down societal stereotypes, generalisations and misconceptions surrounding queer identities and stories in South Africa. His work also focuses on celebrating and representing queer culture.
A true pioneer, Lelowhatsgood recently entered the events space through spearheading ‘Vogue Nights Jozi’, a music, art and dance event designed to house and provide safe spaces for the LGBTQI+ community which also serves as a springboard for queer excellence. A proud cultural disruptor and innovator, Lelowhatsgood is shifting perspectives and driving a new narrative in South Africa, one that is inclusive and intersectional.
